Kim Hyun Joong does not want to take up drama offers for the sake of money

Over the past years, many Korean actors have advanced their acting career by taking up roles in foreign dramas, such as by acting in Chinese and Taiwanese dramas. By doing so, not only do they get paid almost triple of their standard fees in Korea, the actors are also able to get more fame by expending their fan base in other countries.

With a successful acting in ‘Inspiring Generation’, Kim Hyun Joong was asked during interview if he would like to advance his career by acting in foreign dramas.

To this, Kim Hyun Joong rejected the idea and said that these kind of dramas always have voice dubbing and it will be problematic when he doesn’t even know the language what he is speaking.

“Although more popularity will be gained but I don’t want to do things just for the money”, says Kim Hyun Joong.

He also revealed that he does have plans to learn another language, “It will not be Chinese or Japanese, I will learn English as it is needed more often. However, I really don’t have a good brain for languages”.

Kim Hyun-Joong (27) who said he was ‘relieved’ after ‘Inspiring Generation’ ended, indicated he will be holding a concert in the upcoming end of June as well as in the midst of preparing his next album.

Kim Hyun-joong was asked what’s his next plan after ‘Inspiring Generation’ ended, he said, ‘I want to challenge a triathlon’. It was a surprising answer since he had just finished an approximate 6 months (including broadcasting period) of filming for ‘Inspiring Generation’, which was not really an easy task.

‘When people are worked up, their adrenaline level spikes up.’ He, who is 29 this year, described that his soon-to-be-over 20s was a bright one.

‘It was really exciting. I started out as a member of idol group (SS501), but I haven’t really got into any serious relationships. Although there were some cases of privacy intrusion, I have no regrets. Because this was my choice. There are many people who wanted to become a singer or actor. It’s amazing that I could be a celebrity among the many. I feel happy about this.’

Kim Hyun-joong had held his activities as a member of idol group SS501 in 2005. He expressed his views on how the world outside see him as an idol.

‘In Korea, it seems like idols aren’t generally categorised as an artist but in overseas, they are regarded as artists. Although I’m still young, I hope I can spread the culture to the world. I debuted as an idol, but there’s (always) an conception on what an idol should only do. I don’t know why it’s so. But it would be great if the public change that point of view.

Kim Hyun Joong said he is not worry about his 2-years of hiatus as an celebrity after he is enlisted into the army next year.

‘If I said the army’s life is not difficult, I’ll probably be blamed by the army if I said that. However, it’s a fact that I (as a male citizen of ROK) must enter the army to accomplish my duty. The life of a celebrity whenever she/he is not engaged in any activities are insecure. However in the army, I get to eat 3 meals a day and I get to sleep at night.’

Instead of fearing about the army enlistment, Kim Hyun-joong said that he sees the army enlistment as an opportunity to learn something new about the society which he couldn’t experience as a celebrity.

‘I get to learn about people in the army, and it’s an opportunity to learn about the social classes of people in the society. It’s a time opportunity for Kim Hyun-joong to become more mature, and I could possibly learn better acting skills and opportunities from there’.

Kim Hyun-joong revealed his thoughts about the recent rumours about ‘celebrity army’.

‘I have no plans to be enlisted as a celebrity soldier. (this implementation was officially removed on August 1st, 2013). But I do think there is a need for that system as I think even army needs some entertainment sometimes too. I did enough of singing and acting so I don’t think I have plans to become a celebrity army. Since it’s not easy to lead a life as a celebrity, I want to learn something I couldn’t learn as a celebrity inside the army.

After developing a love line in the drama ‘Inspiring Generation’ with Jin Se-yeon and Im Soo-hyang, Kim Hyun-joong changed his viewpoint towards the opposite gender.

‘Previously I have to meet the woman whom I liked. In the drama, Kim Ok-ryeon (played by Jin Se-yeon) was devoted and nice to me. And I liked that since there’s no reason for me to dislike that. Hahaha.’

Kim Hyun-joong revealed his future plans as an actor, ‘I want to be a psycho’. He said his aim for acting skills is not to indulge himself into the character, but to become the character itself.

‘I feel I couldn’t express freely through Inspiring Generation since it’s a period drama. What I’m thinking is that, I want to express myself freely and appropriately through acting. In order to bring out the character as a pyscho, I have to drop my usual daily lifestyles & truly become that person. I want to try something like ‘Ruler of Your Own World’ by Yang Dong-geun.'

Q: It's a tough journey. How do you feel about 'Inspiring Generation' for the past 3 months?

A: The 3 months was as if one year. (laughs) 'Inspiring Generation' started its production since June last year. I was (always)contemplating how should I bring out the character of 'Shin Jeong-tae' throughout the 10 months. Although there were tough times during the timing, it ended perfectly thanks to the love and supports from the viewers.

----

Q: There were quite a few characters that left a deep impression. How did you able to adapt to that?

A: Every scene was shot with 100% effort. The best was given for every moment/shots. If I couldn't receive a positive approval, I will accept the fact that I might not have done enough yet.

----

Q: There were concerns on the comparison between you and the top actors, but your crying scenes in the early-mid part of the drama have wiped out the concerns.

A: I did cry a lot during the crying scenes, but it’s a little pity if the focus of acting skills was only zooming into those scenes. In fact, a lot of emotions that were as much as crying scenes, were put into angry scenes, funny scenes and even sad scenes. It was up to the point that I contemplated on how should I hold a spoon during acting. I’ve always tried my best to imagine the scenario whenever I received the script. When I looked at the father’s (Shin Yeong-chul) picture, I imagined how his life and actions would be. I’ve also tried to imagine the little habits that Chung-ah have when looking at her picture, and even tried the speech intonation I (as Shin Jeong-tae) when speaking to her. Perhaps I was always thinking about all these, I even dreamed about ‘Inspiring Generation’. When I was napping for around 2-3 hours, I dreamed about Shin I-chi and Wang Baek-san chasing after me. (laughs) Then I realised ‘I’ve really fallen for IG’.

----

Q: Have you ever thought you could erase the clear image you’ve got in the long run from KBS2 ‘Boys Over Flower’ through ‘Inspiring Generation’?

A: I’ve never thought of breaking the ‘flower boy’ image. The ‘image’ choice belongs to the viewers, isn’t it? However I think there is a limitation in which acting skills can reach in romantic comedy genre. It was one of the reason why I chose a more manly period drama so I make a turning point through my acting skills. As much as the preparation was done, in order to express the right emotions of the characters, I think it’s best to choose the right character (first that suits yourself).

----

Q: There were positive feedbacks on your acting skills, including your action scenes. It wasn’t easy to try action scenes for the first time.

A: I attended action schools for a few days, but I haven’t practiced a lot. I learned martial acting and there’s a line that I can still remember very well, ‘Action is not about synchronicity, it’s emotions’. It feels a whole lot different when you were fighting against a stranger and someone you loved. The latter one consists of a more complex actions and emotions. ‘Inspiring Generation’ have changed a big part of my mindset on martial acting.

----

Q: Are you personally satisfied with the production this time? Have you gained any meaningful experiences?

A: The feedbacks were more than what I was expecting. But I think it could have been better. I will not stop here nor will I choose to act a character that is similar to ‘Shin Jeong-tae’. Instead, I will show something that is beyond what I have achieved now. Since there is no endpoint to martial arts, I will continue and show something different in the future.

Q: From the change of scriptwriter and the production cost scandal, it was quite an interference to the broadcast of ‘Inspiring Generation’. Were you affected by it?

A: I had a hard time too but I did not have any dissatisfaction about it since I was one of the lead cast, I have to continue with the filming. I have to prepare to bring out the best for the scene even if I have no more than 5 minutes to memorise the script. So I wasn’t really affected by changing of the scriptwriter. A part of me had become one with ‘Shin Jeong-tae’, so almost everything I do was to bring the best of the character. Besides, there was a good collaboration between the casts. To be able to make a production up to this standard under such condition, the casts deserve large credits. Everyone were able to focus, no matter during filming or off filming.

----

Q: Although it was said after filming, ‘Although it was a 150million KRW mass production, the viewerships ratings were just so-so’. And ‘Inspiring Generation’ was highly anticipated by outsiders from the start. It’s another task for you to shake off this burden.

A: I don’t know how I should say this, but I did not feel any burden. When it comes to ‘Kim Hyun-Joong’, it’s surely thrilling & nervous. However I was ‘Shin Jeong-tae’, not ‘Kim Hyun-Joong’ in ‘Inspiring Generation’. It was also a reason why tears fell naturally when Jeong Jae-hwa (Kim Seong-oh) and the Bangsamtong’s people kneeled before me. Rather than feeling stressed towards the expectations for the drama, I felt sorry for the people together with me whom I cannot protect. Whether it’s the cast or the factors beyond the production.

----

Q: You have experience in acting from modern drama to period drama throughout your short acting journey. What do you think that matches you between the two?

A: To be honest, it was hard filming for a period drama. (laughs) Because we had to play a lot with the intonation and moves. It was hard to express your emotions in a limited area. On the other hand, if I were to point out a good point about period drama, it’s going to be ‘stepping into the past through acting’. If ‘time machine’ really does exist, wouldn’t it be ‘period drama’? The historical sentiments, culture and incidents that I wanted to feel so real. I’ve felt/learned a lot of things from ‘Inspiring Generation’. For example, ‘So 1930 era was such a depressing era’, ‘The only way to protect your family was only through fighting’, ‘Without handphones (text messages), there’s no misunderstanding’. (laughs)

----

Q: The steady fandom since your days as a singer idol seemed to have become more solid while you were engaged in both activities. Have you have any thoughts of expanding your acting career overseas?

A: I don’t know, honestly. Even with dubbings and subtitles, I think there ought to have problems if I’m filming just because of my popularity, using a language I do not know. No matter what, I do not want to do it just because of the money value. I’m the type whom I will not do anything that I am not confident in. Although I wanted to learn foreign language, but it’ll not be Japanese or Chinese. It’s likely to be English since it’s a more widely used language. I’m not a person who can absorb a variety of languages well. (laughs)

----

Q: Then what do you think about ‘actor Lee Byung-hun’? He’s one of the very few Korean stars who officially entered Hollywood.

A: Ah, I really respected him. If you watched his acting, it seemed as if he’s a native(English) speaking in mother tongue language. An acting skills whom he did research on the proper language pronunciation alongside with the sentiments it brings along. If I’m going to do this, I wanted to do it like that as well.

----

Q: You are a singer and actor to the public at the same time. Especially there are sayings that ‘There’s a lot of burden as an actor’. So how did you manage to balance between the two?

A: There are ups and downs for both singer and actor. Although I didn’t want to be outstanding on one career over another. (laughs) Rather than choosing what I should be doing, a lot more thoughts are need to be given when running the both activities at the same time. As I’m thinking about ‘Why can’t an idol-turned actor received appraisals for their acting skills?’, I came down with the conclusion that viewers weren’t expecting much about their acting skills, aside from the ‘misleading’ image they have (as an idol). No matter on which side, I think more time is needed to be given for viewers to forget about the image. So I think I’m going on a tour as a singer for a while.

----

Q: You made your first turning point via ‘Inspiring Generation’. And you have also reached the ‘important age’ of an actor. Have you got any plans ahead?

A: I want to try a beautiful melodrama as an actor. For a romantic comedy, it’s ‘Wherever there’s wind, I’m able to go travel freely’ (Kim Hyun-joong used his famous line from Boys Over Flowers and said ‘Isn’t that line referring to a kite?’. But for this famous quote, I don’t think it’s still usable in the next century. (laughs) Just like the previous quote, there are many lines that do not quite make sense. Since melodramas are more related to our daily lives, I want to focus more on that.

----

Q: What do you think as a man who reached 29 this year. There are many things you should think of now.

A: I’m planning to enlist next year. To be honest, I’ve postponed the date of enlistment so I’ll make it a memorable one. In other words, before I enlist, I’ve done everything I wish I could do. With no regrets, with no worries. (laughs) Maybe I’m afraid I will forget about it (things he wish to do), so instead of worrying about it, I bring along the the memories of myself (accomplishing the things he wished to do) into the army. After I come back, I’m going to show a more steady acting skills, more band-liked music of different style as compared to now, in order to repay fans. Also displaying a more diverse personality as a public figure, as well as keeping the profile as low as possible. *laughs* (P/S: meaning less public criticism and less scandals).

(English Translation) "Do You Know Me" Interview of Kim Hyun Joong For The Star Magazine

An interview of Kim Hyun Joong titled "Do You Know Me?"
Source: http://m.cyworld.nate.com
Translation: @FortheLoveofKHJ via @AlienPrinceKHJ

Reporter (R): You seem to have been showing a more masculine side of you like today for sometime now.
KHJ: I wanted to be more "manly" before and thought that I was manly at that time. But, come to think of it, it was more like a child trying to emulate manliness. Now I don't necessarily do that anymore. Time passes and you naturally become a man. That's what crosses my mind nowadays.

R: You turn 29 in the year 2014. Is it already the time to talk about passing of time?
KHJ: My friends all had that manly look at age 24. I am rather a little late since I have a baby face (laugh).

R: I see that the role you took for this upcoming drama has that masculine character.
KHJ: I don't particularly try to perform my role in a manly way anymore. My tone of voice is lower which makes my lines show masculinity. I don't force acting but perform the role as is which ends up broadening my range of emotions. As I age there are more parts that I can express. Overall, all is good in many ways now. What's inside of me became more diverse, and it's nice to take it out one at a time.

R: Then what do you take out most often this time?
KHJ: This project/drama will become something that will unravel things I've felt and experienced. Memories about the fights, misunderstandings, conflicts with friends will be unraveled here. If I "pretend" it will become more awkward.

R: How is it working with the actresses?
KHJ: I don't know about Jin Sae-Yeon for I haven't done anything with her yet. I like Soo-hyang because she's easygoing. She is not that feminine and straightforward.

R: Your fans in China would be happy when you get there.
KHJ: Would they? Haha By the way, I'm planning on being more active in regards to my Weibo (a chinese SNS). My agency asked to post more photos to generate more followers. Haha

R: Does the romanticist character suit you?
KHJ: Romanticist....I don't know it very well. Sounds like protecting someone by being loyal? It's not as if the present era is the Jeosun Dynasty. To be honest, I don't think one can find that many "romanticists" in our generation. People tend to date often casually. Of course, I know the feel of a "romanticist," but I don't think it'll be easy to portray what the authors will write.

R: What are you going to do then? This project is presented as an "emotional, romantic noir."
KHJ: It is packaged that way. haha I think it is more of a period drama. It's rather closer to the drama "The Wild generation" that was very popular some time ago. When this is compared often to "The Wild Generation," it makes me feel good to be compared to such a wonderful drama.

R: Is there any pressure about this being a big project?
KHJ: No. I don't care more just because the production costs 15 billion Won or care less because it costs 3 billion Won. Really..I don't. I don't know since when but it's become "It is what it is."

R: Then, is filming site comfortable?
KHJ: It is always uncomfortable, not to mention many restrictions, but it's fun. I think it's because of the good actors...what you might call an "ensemble." The things I haven't felt before such as working together and asking each other "did you eat yet?" make me feel like a part of the team. That's what I like. Once you are stuck together somewhere in the country, you have no choice but to get to know each other.

R: So, could we expect to see some romantic scenes in this drama? To tell you the truth, there were many scenes that were too over-the-top lovey-dovey in the past dramas. For example, you whispered a line "I can go anywhere with a white cloth and the wind" in Boys Over Flowers.
KHJ: The lines are more realistic now so it's easier to act. To be honest, I've only been fighting mostly, so there was no time to do romantic scenes.

R: Then, are you fighting well?
KHJ: Yes. I'm having fun(?). I find that getting beat up makes feel better than hitting someone.

R: It sounds like your upcoming China shooting will be fun.
KHJ: It was originally scheduled for a month but looks like we'll be staying for only 2 weeks, which makes it more difficult. But, I'm looking forward to it a lot. The Hong Kong actor, Jackie Chan, is filming there currently at our Chinese filming set. I heard he bought the set to shoot a film. It's going to be fun to shoot the drama as well as see Jackie Chan.

R: You have many fans already and that would generate even more fans. How does it feel to know that there are many people all over the world who watches your every move? You even made the cover of a South American magazine.
KHJ: Feels good. I had concerts in Japan this past October, and there were many fans greeting me, making me happy. But honestly, the overseas fans don't really know me well. They like Ji-hoo from Boys over Flowers, not me (My 2 cents...dear KHJ, you are so wrong about that...lol). I saw that those fans couldn't get used to what I did there. When I danced in the countries I visited for the first time, they would say "Ji-hoo is dancing well." They know I'm a singer but because it's their first time seeing me that way, they are taken aback. Not to mention, I'm physically more fit than when I was in Boys Over Flowers.

R: You know that's how it starts. First, people fall for the looks, then searches for the projects you were previously involved in.
KHJ: I get that. First of all, you have the language barrier (laugh). Wouldn't it be similar to my liking Miranda Kerr but almost knowing nothing about her personality? It begins that way, and you start getting to know his/her inside which leads to attraction.

R: That's right. Somehow, first impressions do affect how good a feeling you have on someone.
KHJ: I consider the first impression very important. Most of the time, if I get "a bad vibe" from the beginning, I end up not hitting it off with the person in the end.

R: That's what people call "good at reading people." I guess you are like that.
KHJ: Not really. I don't tend to trust people easily but can get a good vibe from good people. For example, Dalhwan-hyung is someone I'm filming with these days, and I had a good vibe about him only after exchanging a few words. I don't drink with people who don't see eye to eye with me, and Dalhwan-hyung and I hit it off when we drank together. I found out that he also likes traveling alone, and we have a same set of values in various ways.

R: Haha. You are a well-know drinker in the showbiz, but looks like it's difficult to have a drink with you since the first impression screens who can drink with you.
KHJ: I dislike drinking in uncomfortable situations the most. That's because I enjoy drinking and don't want to ruin those good times by being uncomfortable.

R: What's your limit?
KHJ: 4 bottles of soju. I used to like only soju but learned to like the taste of hard liquor and wine a bit. I honestly didn't know the taste of alcohol before. But now I feel like I'm beginning to know the taste.

R: I started with the looks and got side tracked to drinking. So, I didn't get to ask you what I really wanted to. Are people as good looking as you happy with their looks?
KHJ: I'm content. Of course, there are so many good looking people out there. Leonardo DiCaprio comes to mind right now. I like myself just the way I am.

R: However, you are not just some good looking star...a bit on the 4D side..
KHJ: I guess I just live my life carefree...haha I don't concern myself with the way how others might look at me and do what I want to do. That's how I can live freely without restrictions.

R: I hear when you work you should put most emphasis on what you want to do. What is it that you really want to do?
KHJ: Of course acting and singing. Also, I want to ride my bicycle and travel the whole country, enter a triathlon, and get a certificate for sailing. When I get older, I want to open a scuba shop in Jeju-do, not for money but as a hobby.

R: You can't always do what you want. What do you do to get rid of the stress when that happens?
KHJ: Do whatever you want to do except the things you can't do.

R: Does that include dating among the things you want to do?
KHJ: Dating...not so much. These days I don't have anyone I like that much. I like someone who can talk well but not always serious at the same time. You know one of those people who is a pleasure to be around. I like people like Tak Jae-hoon.

R: You're known for "giving it all" when you date. If you do date again, are you ready to do that?
KHJ: Yes. I should "give it all." If I love the person, how could I not?

R: But then, it would hurt that much more when you break up.
KHJ: You deal with it then. If you think about this and that, it will only get you a headache. I am more like "let's do what's due today and do what's due tomorrow." It's a bit weird to say this but I might not even be here tomorrow due to an unfortunate event. Therefore, enjoy as much as you can today.

R: You sound like your motto is still "You only live once."
KHJ: Yes. Only live once. I don't want to live my life worrying. I want to enjoy my life doing what's appropriate for a 20 year old when I'm 20 years old and doing what's appropriate for a 30 year old when I'm 30 years old. Let's say you work day and night until you turn 40 and 50 to save money. And then saying at age 50 "Now that I've saved enough, I should play soccer" won't make it actually happen.

R: The questions have been short answer questions, but they are funny and funny some more. However, there is philosophy in them.
KHJ: I guess it's because I'm quick tempered. It's what I decided to do so what's the point in sulking? We will only get on each other's nerves. Since we are doing it we might as well do it cheerfully and quickly.

R: It's difficult to do that with dramas.
KHJ: You gotta wait. That's not something you can do on your own. Everything else that is under my power, I do it quickly and in a fun way.

R: Sounds like it's a fun way to live.
KHJ: There will be more fun things after the interview.

R: Really? I hear you are headed to Young-wal for filming after this. Haha
KHJ: It will be fun in between. All right..a deal! Shall we do just three more questions as last questions?

R: Then I want to make a deal as well. You ask and answer your own questions.
KHJ: What I want to say is about my plans hereafter. When I'm done with The Age of Emotions, I plan on doing a drama and a movie in a row. Then I'll be gone (everyone burst into laughter). This is about all I will say.... move on.

R: What's your second one?
KHJ: It's about my goal. I want to challenge myself doing a movie. The one in which I don't necessarily have to be a leading man. You know the kind of role that doesn't fit me, a strong character. Even if it's for a little bit I want to appear as a psychopath in a thriller. A more practical goal is to take on a role of a character who's rich, so I may shoot the drama in warmth unlike the one in The Age of Emotions. That character is financially challenged so I'm physically having a hard time (Everyone bursts into laughter once again). I'm so cold nowadays.

R: Your third one?
KHJ: Yes...I have another goal. I plan to enter a triathlon in July of 2014 (speaking while looking at his manager) with my manager's younger sibling. Haha It's something I really want to do at least once in my life. I've seen a video clip some time ago about a father who tried to make his son's wish come true, so he prepared special equipment, ended up finishing the triathlon together. After watching it, I said to myself that I should challenge myself in doing it. It was very moving. you should watch it.

R: Yes. Will do. Okay..I will finish up with the last question. When will be The Age of Emotions for Kim Hyun Joong who has debuted 10 years ago?
KHJ: Hmm. Not here yet. I once said in an interview that when the 10 year anniversary hits, I would throw a free concert for my fans. I want to keep that promise. But realistically speaking, it's gotta be a smaller place, right? Let's do it at the Floating Island center near the River Han. It looked pretty available. Haha!

Reporter: His self-interview ended with the triathlon. The triathlon talking Kim Hyun Joong was unfamiliar to me just like the overseas fans who said "Ji-hoo sunbae is dancing." Come to think of it, Kim Hyun Joong constantly shows himself but the public might have been seeing only what they wanted to see. It's been 9 years since his debut, and Kim Hyun Joong is going forward toward "The Age of Emotions" one step at a time.

(Video) Kim Hyun Joong Talks About the Knittted Dragon Scarf and more at KBS Entertainment Relay

Remember the photo I posted before of SungO of 24K and Hyun Joong? This was taken here^^

A rough translation on the scarf part: Credit: http://ss501ode.blogspot.com/

Q. 기억에 남는 해외 팬의 선물은? (What's a gift from overseas fans that left an impression on you?)

A. 중국의 인터뷰에서 용 같은 목도리를 갖고싶다고... (I mentioned before in a Chinese interview in China that I wanted a scarf like a dragon...)

A. 진짜 100m 용 목도리를 짜서 보내준 팬! (There really was a 100m long dragon skarf that was knitted and given to me!)

And another one:

At the final part, he said,

"아 그리고 다가오는 여름엔 게릴라 데이트를...
...사이클 데이트를 할까요? 춘천까지..."

In the coming summer, a guerilla date...
...shall it be a cycling date? all the way until Chuncheon...

Kim Hyun Joong Promises Henecia To Come Back With World Tour In Thailand Next Year

Wow! Hope I would be still be able to be there when that time comes..

Newspaper Scan by @MyLife_LJJ
Thai-Eng translation by @HeneciaThailand

4D Prince Kim Hyun Joong chose Thailand as the last destination for his Asia Tour Kim Hyun Joong Fanmeeting in Bangkok at Impact Exhibition Hall. Enthusiastic, Endorphin-driven “Thai Henecia” filled the hall and screamed with his opening act of hit singles like “Let me go” “Break Down” “Kiss Kiss” and “Happiness Is…”

Five lucky fans were chosen to take a polaroid snapshot with Kim Hyun Joong. Each was asked to choose a playing card from HJ; one picked the joker card but it turned out she was transformed into a lead female in Playful Kiss and got to snuggle with the 4D Prince in the song “Marry Me”

Before he said good bye, KHJ serenaded the fans with beautiful ballads “One More Time” and upbeat songs like “U” and “Lucky Guy”. He grabbed a bottle of water and water gun to spray and give Henecians some splash. He promised to return with a big concert in Thailand next year. What made the event more special was a hi 5 that was given to everyone. Such really put Henecians on cloud nine.

“Haneul” [interviewer] had a chance to interview KHJ at Aetas Lumpini. Please, Thai Henecians, don’t get jealous as “Haneul” got to see eye to eye with the handsome 4D prince because we got exclusive interview piece for you

- How’s it going with this trip to Thailand?
“I try to travel to meet Thai Henecians every year and this fanmeeting is the last stop to wrap up my Asia Tour so i will try to do my best. I’ll give all that i have on the stage. I just released a new album in Japan also so i will sing a song from this new album for everyone”

-Were there a lot of fans who welcomed you at the airport when you arrived?
“I was very happy. Despite the delay, fans still waited for me. Thank you everyone for always giving me a warm welcome”

- Why did you choose Thailand as the last stop and why hi5 for everyone?
” Every year i come to Thailand and I promise the fans that i will try to come at least once a year. I always want to come to Thailand so i chose this place to finish my Asia Tour. Hi-touch is an activity for fanmeeting event which i want to return the warmth and good feeling to everyone. It’s a way to thank Henecians”

- We understand that HEAT was sold at 183,ooo copies within the first week and went to no.1 on Oricon Chart. Did you expect such a good response?
“I was shocked when i heard the news cos i didn’t think fans would like my songs this much. Getting no.1 on the oricon chart reassures me and gave me a good morale support. I will keep on trying for Henecians who love me”

- Besides that, we also heard that you are working on a new drama City Conquest?
“CC is my comeback series after a 2-year hiatus. This is different from the roles i used to take. This is an action role. the production is quite a big scale and fans would get to see another side of me that is strong, charismatic but also sweet and loving towards my lead lady. Please support and follow this series”

- With many visits to Thailand, can you speak some thai words?
“Sawasdee krub” (Hello) “Kob Khun Krub” (Thank you) and “Rew rew” (Pali pali)

- You have a very good skin. What’s the tip to stay in shape?
“When i started shooting, my skin is not as good as before but i have to exercise every morning because CC is an action drama so i have to stay fit”

- How do you relax after work?
“I want to relax of course but i don’t have much time. Anyway, i still get to do what i love so i always think that when i work, it’s like i am relaxing also”

- What kind of artist do you want to be to everyone?
“Because Thai Henecians really love me, i want to be an artist that everyone can remember me as long as possible. I will try to be a good artist and a good role model for others. In the future, if chances allow, i also still want to be a singer and actor. Even when i grow old, i still want to be able to sing and act”

- It shows that you really love this job
“i think this is my destiny. it’s the work that i love and i can do it well”

- After this fanmeeting, will there be other projects for Henecians?
“Next year, i’m going to do World Tour. I will prepare myself the best i can. For fanmeetings, i gave it all and did my best but i will do better at world tour and i will come back to Thailand so see you soon”
KHJ gave you a promise to come back with his world tour now. Thai Henecians, save up right away!

Did you write the lyrics on your own for the song Marry Me ?
And where did you get the inspiration ?

No matter writing the lyrics or finding inspiration , all of this is depends on the mood of that particular day .
It is a song full with emotions
I wants to share with everybody so I tried to write out a lot

This lyrics is really not bad
And also this time is a special performance
That’s why I want to try to sing for all to listen

It should be naturally

You have a lot of songs that required dancing
How do you do normally manage your own body ?

Because singing is the main thing
I will focus more on my voice
Usually will do more appropriate exercises
And also before performing
Due to need to wait for it to digest
I will eat 4 hours earlier
Exercising
I will also do it at least 5 to 6 hours earlier

Can you introduce a bit about your upcoming drama ‘ city conquest ‘ ?

Up until now
I cant reveal any content of the drama
I can only say there will be a lot of different images compare to the usual Kim Hyun Joong that everyone knows

Which type of character will u played as this time ?

According to what I know , my character is called Baek Mir
Because the filming of the drama had not been started
Still do not know whether it is which kind of character
But I think is a bad person after I looked at the scripts
But if look even further, the character is also kind hearted deep inside
I think it is such a role

How do you feel acting again since it is quite some time after your last drama ?

It had been quite some time since this type of drama is been released
I will try to understand more about it
Will do more for preparation
Just for the viewers to see a brand new side of me
I will work very hard to not disappoint everyone
For this time , I wants to hear comments like ‘ you had improved’ and also ‘ this is something different ‘
I must work hard

In the future, Will you challenge something different in music wise ?

Even though I had already released to mini albums
But these two albums are obviously different from each other
For the future albums, I also feel like doing some other kind of music
It Wont affect the quality of the music
It will be best to develop different genres kind of music
For the fans
I will work harder and break more sweat working for it

After releasing two albums in Japan
And had lots of activities over there  , will you release album in China or HK ?

For mandarin songs
Previously had sang the theme song for Asian Games
In the future , not only on music wise
Movie , drama or etc
Directors or actors from China
It will be nice If there is a chance to work together
Even though I’m not mature enough yet
But I feel that not only in music wise ,
Acting wise , I also wants to get recognition from the public
Will attempt more in various areas

Thanks for accepting our interview

Thanks so much Shereen for sharing the translation to me!! Thanks thanks thanks!!!

REPOST WITH FULL CREDITS

I'm here feeling nervous together with a lot of hong kong fans because our guest today
is Korea Style Icon , Kim Hyun Joong
Anyonghaseyo

Hello everybody , I'm Kim Hyun Joong

As we know, this is not the first time you visited HK. There are a lot of delicacies and popular
tourist spot in HK, so do you have any particular ones that you wish to try or visit ?

Actually HK is a place that I visited quite often personally but this time round the focus
is more on the fan meeting. That's why this trip to HK I won't be very particular
about food or anything else, just hoping to focus more on the fan meeting .

Everytime when you are on stage , you will be dancing and singing with a lot
of passion together with your dancers . But we know that this will also used up a lot
of energy. So is there any reason for you to choose a harder type of dance choreography

There are a lot of fans who say that my dance is actually quite hard to learn.
I myself also thought so too. But even though the dance steps is a bit hard, but I also
hope to perform it live on stage for everyone to see. So that on vision wise it wont be so
boring. I had put a lot of hard work on this. For the future album and dance, I will
also do some research on it , working harder to give a better performance.

How much would you rate your dancing skills out of 100 marks ?

No matter which thing that I do, I cant give myself a 100 marks .
But I really work very hard on dancing side, so I hope to give myself a 100 marks for
that. Even though according to the performance on a certain day, the rating for the
dance might be high and low, but when standing in front of fans and the public,
I can dance in a confident way so I will give myself a 100 marks for that. The rest of
comments is all up to the fans and public.

With all the busy schedules you have, but when you have free time , you still choose to
go out and have fun. But why wont you choose to rest ?

I'm also a human , I also hope to have time to rest properly with the busy schedules I
have. But due to my own personality, I'm those type that cannot rest too long. I like to
non stop creating working opportunities, I will also practice on rest days. I will just
get something for myself to work on. If there is really a period of free time, example like
after the fan meeting tour ends, after the promotion for japanese album ends and also
after filming for the drama, by that time should be end of December already. Before
2013 approach, I hope to spend about 10 days to travel to overseas instead of korea,
to a warm country so that I can spend a winter which is also feels like summer.

Like you mentioned, you want to go travelling , is there any place in mind ?

For travelling wise, it is definitely that I want to go for a tour around the world but for
now what I feel like to do the most is going to Philippines together with a group of friends I like because I heard there is a gun type of method to fish and can get very big fish. So I hope to experience that.

Everybody knows that you have a very busy schedule to work with , putting away the
fan meeting tour this time, there are still a lot of work you need to deal with. So how
do you regain back your energy ?

Even though I'm busy working non stop , example like before the SG FM, and after the
SG FM had ended , the stress before it will be all gone. Then when SG FM ends, I'm
busy preparing for the new album and also came to HK, and after I overcome this,
the stress will disappear naturally. This is what I thought.

Everyone also saw your fit trained body during your performances, so do you have any
special ways of training your body ?

Me myself as an artist have the resposibility to put more effort on my body. I'm not
consider doing very well, but I still work hard working out. For my upcoming drama this
year, I need to work harder doing gym. Thats why I work out very efficiently lately.
My body shape lately is the best in my history .

What type of role are you acting in this drama since it requires you to train to have such a
fit body ?

HK fans should know those action movies, my drama this time round has some similarities
with those HK action movies. The character is very manly , and also had experienced
the hardship of life but soft at another image. This is a very interesting genre. I also
grew up watching HK movies, I believe that this drama will be well received by HK
viewers. Now is in the middle of preparation.

There must be its own difficulty in portraying this role for this drama, but why do you
still accept to take on this role ?

I hope to act in a character which is different from the past characters I acted, I hope
to have a totally change of image. I'm undergoing acting training now for this drama due
to need to change the soft type of image I had last time, hoping to receive the title of
manly Kim Hyun Joong . no matter on body wise or acting wise, I'm undergoing training
now.

Everyone also knows that you referred yourself as Uzoosin and your good drawing skills
is well known, so can you draw a picture of you yourself on what type of person are you ?

done(look at the video^^)

Is this during when you dance ?

This is my pose when coming out to stage during the opening of the FM,

Can you let us see once ?

There is an action like this. After everyone saw this, then you can slightly guess what
will happen during the FM. This is some kind of hint for all of you.

Is there anything else that you want to tell your HK fans ?

Dear HK fans, we have the chance to meet up during the yahoo award ceremony for
the past years. This time I finally came to HK to perform. I will give all my best
this time since after so long only I came again to perform. And will also hand shake
with all the fans. Hope the FM this time is a heart to heart FM,

I'm very happy to have the chance to interview you. thank you.

thank you. bye bye

Kim Hyun Joong: "I feel I Had Met the Girl Of My Destiny":Interview for CHOA MAGAZINE

OH....oh..oh...
Thanks again Lafone for this! ^^

Credit: http://ameblo.jp/breakdown0606

Summary of Kim Hyun Joong Interview by Choa

As there were many questions which contain duplications with other magazines, I focused on the questions with no overlapping.
No. 8 issue

Q : What are the difference between KissKiss Korean and Japanese versions ?
KHJ: The lyrics deliver the same message. The difference is a way of mixing. Japanese version is aimed easy and confortable for Japanese people. If I promote myself in Japan, I thought that it would be nice to add factors which they feel familiar with as a J-POP.

Q : The image and concept of the three album jackets gives different impression from
those of Korean versions.
KHJ : I wanted to show three concepts, i.e., tender , sexy, and charisuma. However, it took a considerable time. Actually, there were nine sets (9 pieces of clothes ). It was a pity that I could not show you all of them. If only I could have disclosed those pictures on the net. Personally, I like the best, the sexy look dressed in red. Usually I don’t have a chance to put on something red.

Q : KissKiss is a story of an encounter with the woman of dream. Have you recently met a girl you felt a woman of your destiny ?
KHJ: I feel I had. I had an opportunity to meet with the lady whom I had been having affection for a long time. I feel strange that it happened to me…. It was a Korean girl (he said in Japanese)

Q: “Power of Smile” expresses a very strong determination while being tender. Any points you feel symphathy with this song?
KHJ : When I recorded this song, there occurred many disasters in Japan. While thinking of those fans in their sorrow, I sang this song for them. I thought that what I could deliver to them was my song. I know that a song cannot cheer them up completely, but I just wanted to do something to soothe their sadness.

Q: Any strange happenings you have recently experienced.
KHJ: My clothes disappeared one by one. Even with a monitoring camera, we could not find who took them away. No one in the monitoring screen ! Not only clothes, but also wataches disappeared one by one.

Q: Any specific episode in Japan which you cannot forget ?
KHJ: I could not read Japanese at all when I came to Japan for the first time. I misunderstood a medicine for athlete’s foot for tooth paste (laugh) I also took body lotion for a hair rinse. One of the medicines we got from the fans was the one for athlet’s foot which happened to be in the bathroom. That is why I guessed wrong. One of the members (SS501) continued to use that medicine for athlete's foot as tooth paste, having bleeding from the gum. I thought my gum was strong as it did not happen to me ^^

Kim Hyun Joong's Interview for Creasta Magazine:Interview about his music

Thanks again to lafone for the translation...

Credit: http://ameblo.jp/breakdown0606
REPOST WITH FULL CREDIT

Creasta KHJ Interview ( * Crazy for Asian Star )

Q 1: What kind of music genre did you aim in the current album? (Lucky )
KHJ: Frankly speaking, it seems that nobody is interested in my songs in themselves. I focused on “ music to see performance “ rather than “ music to listen to “. However, what I would like to aim from now on is a sort of music which makes everyone cheerful. I know that nobody expects me a high-quality music pieces. That is why I wanted to create songs easy on the ear. I aimed songs which make people comfortable and cheerful by just listening to. Maybe I talked about this too honestly (laugh)

Q2: Do you believe that you have grown up in music through this album?
KHJ: Yes, I feel that I could have made improvement during this album production. I made my best efforts in vocal lessons to change myself. Though there are still many things to be improved, I feel that I could have changed the tone of my voice.

Q3: The 2nd mini-album, “Lucky “ includes a few pieces of ballad.
KHJ: As I knew that people expected me to sing a ballad, I added them in the current album (laugh). In order to give a sense of stability in tone of the ballad, I especially focused on this to show how I had changed. I hope that everyone like them.

Q4: Compared with the previous mini-album, “Break Down”, how do you think of “Lucky” ?
KHJ: To be honest with you, “Lucky” is better than “Break Down”.

Q5: You produced the 2nd mini-album in four months after the release of “Break Down”. You seemed to have really worked hard to produce your album with such a short interval.
KHJ: Exactly! I really worked non-stop. I have been working hard without taking any rest till now. The current reaction from people itself is amazing for me because I thought in a different way. I felt that I was too late to release an album. I wanted to meet with my fans through my music as soon as possible. This feeling was overwhelming in myself. I wanted to deliver good songs to them. Therefore, I will continue to produce a single album constantly to see my fans.

Q6: Do you mean that you would release your album frequently?
KHJ: True enough. Being a member of SS501, I released only one full-album. From my viewpoint, there is no point in differenciating a mini-album from a full-album. I will just count my album as the first, the second, and so on.

Q7: Could you explain about the title truck of “Lucky” album?
KHJ: The basic sound of the title truck consists of a rhythmical electric guiar and brass rock’n’roll band music. It’s a funky rock. As I was involved from the planning, concept, ideas, and overall production, I am very attached to this album.

Q8: What kind of music do you want to create ?
KHJ: The music I am really interested in is a band music. Before I joined SS501, I loved rock’n’roll music. When I was a high-school student, I was playing (a guitar) in the rock band. I would like to learn more about music so that I will be able to be confident. For me, it is music that I can get along with till the end of my life.

Q9: Could you tell us more details about “band music” which you are interested in ?
KHJ: The genre I am much interested in is “club music”, but I also think that “band music” is exciting as well. That is why I introduced a real drum sounds in my album. The real sound of the musical instruments increases the “loose feeling “ in music. The sound of guitar was used to aim to add “dry and rough “ touch in the music. I love such taste. In addition to that, I wanted to show that we could dance with a band music. The choreography accentuated the dancing as well.

Q10 Could you tell me about episodes during the recording, if any ?
KHJ: Nothing special. I just enjoyed recording. You may easily recognize while listening to “Lucky Guy”, there’s a sound like the howling of a wolf just before the song goes to bridge (* the melodyline between the 1st lyrics and the 2nd lyrics ). Originally, I wanted to insert a female voice, but I could not find a preferable female sexy voice. Therefore, I did it by myself. Please check this while listening (laugh)

Q11: Finally, could you tell us your plan as artist ?
KHJ: I just want to create a good album. In the far distant future, on the occasion of my retirement as dance-music singer, I would like to invite my fans to the concert and show the best (unsurpassable ) live. I can stand here thanks to the warm support from all of my fans. I would like to convey my appreciation to the fans as much as possible.
