JYJ’s Junsu and his football club FC Men are set to join the Suwon Blue Wings, Samsung’s K-League football team, as the pro club’s fourth minor league team. “Before the K-League match between Suwon and Kangwon on Apr. 15th, we will hold an official ceremony to welcome FC Men, captained by JYJ’s Junsu, as a member of our club. From now on, FC Men will play in our team jersey as an official sub-group of our club,” an official from Suwon Blue Wings told local media today.
Formed earlier this year, FC Men is a football team organized by Junsu and comprised of many top celebrities. The team roster includes a number of idol stars such as:Kim Hyun Joong; JYJ’s Junsu and Yoochun; BEAST’s Lee Ki Kwang, Yoon Doo Joon, and Yang Yo Seob; 2PM’s Kim Junho; 2AM’s Chang Min; and Shinhwa’s Lee Min Woo. On the team’s introductory page, Junsu wrote, “FM Men is a new team launched in 2011. Our team consists of singers, actors, comedians, and models who love the sport of football (soccer). FC Men players not only enjoy playing football (soccer) but also actively promote social responsibility and philanthropy.”
FC Men first got in contact with the Blue Wings through Jung Sung Ryong, the goalie for South Korea’s national football (soccer) team. He became friends with Junsu and other FC Men players through a mutual friend, and was later named the honorary coach of the team. Jung and the players discussed ways to promote the city of Suwon and the sport of football (soccer) together, and came up with the idea of joining Suwon’s professional football (soccer) team. The Blue Wings currently sponsor three other minor league clubs including Me Tan High School (under 18 yr olds), Me Tan Middle School (under 15 yr olds), and the Little Wings (under 12 yr olds).
‘FC Men‘, a celebrity soccer/charity team led by JYJ’s Junsu, will be holding a friendly match against three rival celebrity teams in the “2011 Peace Star Cup Celebrity Soccer Championship.”
FC Men is comprised of JYJ’s Yoochun and Jaejoong, SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong, B2ST’s Doojoon and Kikwang, 2AM’s Changmin, Shinhwa’s Minwoo, Kim Jun Ho (Junsu’s brother), Song Joong Ki, Kim Bum, Im Ju Hwan, Park Gun Hyung, Park Sung Gwang and many others. Soccer player Jung Sung Ryong is the coach/director, and Park Ji Sun is the manager.
FC Men will be going up against Super Stars (led by actor Jung Jun Ho), FC Libero (led by gagman Seo Kyung Suk), and FC Miracle (led by gagman Kim Yong Man).
Junsu wrote a message, that reads:
“Hello, this is the leader of the celebrity soccer team, FC Men. We are now in the fifth year of the Peace Starcup. Because we are a team that hasn’t been in existence for that long, and although we are lacking still, I don’t believe that our love for soccer is behind against any of the other teams.
We’re all excited to be able to participate in the Peace Starcup, and because it is a competition started with good intentions, I feel that I can partake in it with a happy heart.
I still can’t fall asleep at the thought of playing soccer against all of the seniors that I respect. I hope that nobody gets hurt, and that we all enjoy the competition.
I’d love to participate not only this year, but next year as well. Please give your love for Peace Starcup, and support not only FC Men, but the other teams as well.”
Ok.. You all have no idea how many times I edited this post because my take on this changes every time I see other comments.
