2010 was such a great great year for Kim Hyun Joong.. But it wasn't easy though. As we all know, with great power comes great great responsibility...
The year started quite bumpy for Hyun Joong when the scandal about him attending an EX- President's Birthday Party with his then boss, the DSP President. He was badly criticized for that. But we know he's on the right track and even made an assurance to his fans that after that, the truth would be known... He went MIA for months...
Until February came along for SS501's Persona Concert in Bangkok.. By that, we were rest assured he did fine. But of course, we dont know how he felt.. But whatever it takes, he was ok.. And it felt good seeing him happy and all with his SS501 brothers..
Then came SS501's Persona Encore In Seoul.. He looked great as ever lashing out his sexiness on his JITJOONG number.. But then, for the first time ever, he cried in front of everyone at Persona crowd... That was the time everyone felt he did endured some pain... But was trully grateful for all the support..
Months after, SS501 announced that they will have a comeback with their album DESTINATION and everyone just got sooo ecstatic.. They aimed to comeback with the date 5-01 (May 1) but for some apparent reason, it did not push through. However, they did not disappoint as they still showed great photos from their album.
As their comeback is set, Kim Hyun Joong shocked all Triple S and even the whole Kpop world when it was announced that he had an accident and he was hurt. Dream Concert is fast approaching and they were to perform their first single.. However, because he is still recovering, they werent able to perform the said song. But they did sang Let Me Be The One, and every Triple S loved seeing the group, and him, together, and well...
June 4, 2010. The day every Triple S have been waiting for... The much anticipated comeback of the boys with their album Destination. The boys did really really GREAT with their comeback and gained top spot a just a week after their first performance for the song...
But... as every Triple S knows, June 8 marks the end of SS501's 5 Year Contract with DSP. But SS501 boys kept mum about their future plans together. However, the boys made Triple S worried when all of them, particularly, Park Jung Min cried hard while at their fan meeting to mark the end of their Love Ya Promotions, for just 2 weeks...
Then came his manila visit... June 17, 2010... An Angel Arrived in Manila for his Charity Concert. And what a great man he is! He stayed at Philippines for almost a week!
After his manila visit came the most shocking news of all.. Leader left DSP and transferred to Bae Yong Joon's agency, KEYEAST. One of the hardest times in his career as he got numerous comments pertaining to him leaving SS501 behind. His departure from DSP was touted by some as marking the end of SS501. However, Leader, and even his SS501 members reiterated that SS501 IS NOT DISBANDED and will just focus on their solo careers...
His transfer to KEYEAST made a new milestone on his career, which, is acting. He bagged the role of Baek Seung Jo at the Korean adaptation of Itazura Na Kiss along side Jung So Min...
But, his first lead role seemed to be quite hard as Playful Kiss got low ratings in Korea. Despite such, Playful Kiss continued its run until the 16th episode on MBC. It was the Youtube Edition of the drama that proved its WORLDWIDE affection! It was even featured on CNN.
After Playful Kiss, Hyun Joong had quite great successes.. Winning the Style Icon Award, Touring Singapore and Malaysia for Face Shop, and performing at Tokyo Dome. He won the Yahoo Buzz Awards too... with a bumpy road for Hyunnie fans...However, we proved to be the big winner...DAEBAK!
Cancellation of Taiwan Tour disappointed Taiwan and all HYUNMIN fans because of Leader's health status... And what a year it was. Him being sick wasnt even out of the question.. With all the hardwork left and right, his body gave up... And he really needed the rest.
And the recently won award at MBC. Chukae Leader! And why does he look sad? Sources say, his grandmother passed away last night.. Condolence Leader.. But I still congratulate you!
Personally, I can't imagine that the year was over. Seemed to me that 2010 was just months ago... And what a year it was. I personally feel that 2010 was indeed, the year of Kim Hyun Joong. There may have been bumps on the road, but I personally feel that all those were given both to Hyun Joong and to us, Hyunnies, to be strong. And we proved our strength.
2011 has a lot in store for Hyun Joong. With the solo album in the works, we sure have all the reasons to get excited. And the much awaited comeback of SS501 that we are really hoping for... Let's keep our fingers cross...
Hyun Joong ah! Congratulations for a fruitful 2010!!!! It has been really tiring right? But we know you are satisfied! And so are we!!!

Thank you so much for writing this Kathy... I read it twice and cried each time I did it. I just want wuri Hyun Joong to be all right, no matter what challenges there are ahead for him in the future; that he will face them head on, with a smile on his face. If ever he falls down, I know he will pick himself up, brush his pants, pass some wickedly funny random comment or two, give a shrug, and still move on ahead to do the things that he loves most.

He has had quite a year. I just hope he stays healthy throughout next year. He is strong, he can do it, but I still hope health will become his priority.

Yes,the roller coaster ride of HJ in his career is not easy.God must know who to give it to -somebody who can bear and grin through of it with a smile to tell the world he is alright.

It is really strange to feel like this toward somebody I have naver met in person.Beside his works his charector , his personality and his attitute just hit me hard.

It was love at first sight for me when i saw Kim hyun joong on BOF...Ever since then I have been dreaming about him every night. I love the frankness and attitude he hold for his life. A Leader caring for his little brothers,a wonderful husband for Hwang bo, a wonderful role model for everyone.....
